Life Bridging Works has been created out of a desire to bring life in all its fullness to the poorest people in the world. We are currently involved in Southern Sudan & Northern Uganda.

Southern Sudan has also been devastated by more than two decades of civil war. Maternal Mortality rate stands 10 times higher than Europe at 1.7%, with only 10% of all deliveries assisted by skilled health personnel. Infant Mortality rate for under-five is between 250-350 per 1,000 births.

This area has the lowest routine immunisation coverage rated in the world with only 13% of children fully vaccinated. Malaria is considered hyper-endemic in all age groups. Over 90% of households do not have Insecticide-Treated Nets.

2% of boys and less than 1% of girls complete primary education. Physical stunting as a result of malnutrition effects 45% of children. (Source: UNICEF, WHO & Save the Children.)

Northern Uganda has been ravaged by 20 years of civil war. Médecins Sans Frontières estimate that 1.6 million people have been displaced and 66,000 children have been forced to become soldiers or sex slaves. In some districts up to 9 out of 10 people have had houses destroyed and assets confiscated.

In addition to all this Uganda has many ongoing health issues. Malaria affects over 90% of the population, a child is expected to suffer up to 6 bouts of malaria in one year. Uganda also has high incidents of diarrhoea, HIV/AIDS, bilharzia and TB. There is limited health care provision available in this area.

But instead of retelling you news why not listen to some first hand accounts of why Life Bridging Works is involved in Uganda by watching these videos.
